It’s HERE.

AT THE END of last year, news of Ireland’s very first dedicated poutine place sent enthusiasts into a frenzy.

And today, Lala Poutine opened its first stall in Dublin’s Spencer Dock – where it will set up every Wednesday.

As anyone who has tried it will know, poutine is the delicious, messy combination of chips, gravy and cheese curds that’s a national phenomenon in its native Canada.

And Lala delivered on their promise of truly authentic poutine

lala2 The bacon poutine.

The key to getting poutine right is perfecting the curds – the French Canadian cheese ball creation that can’t be found in Ireland – and Lala have gone to all sorts of effort in that department.

Owner Fred told DailyEdge.ie today they have been working with a dairy farmer here in Ireland to perfect the cheese curds – and they have settled on a recipe they feel replicates the famous French Canadian ball.

This is the menu that greets you on the stall

DailyEdge.ie went for the bacon poutine, and it was a decadent combination of red peppers, onion, curds, chunks of bacon and thick fries – all drenched in delicious gravy.

Here it is, in all its glory

At one stage, a group of 10 excited Canadians descended on the stall enmasse – they had clearly been alerted of Lala’s opening day and were eager to get their hands on some legit poutine in Ireland.

Despite the wind and rain pelting Dublin today, they were willing to travel across the city to get their hands on the prized poutine.

Such dedication.

Another experienced poutine expert indulged in the chicken and chorizo variety

He gave his verdict to DailyEdge.ie:

Yeah, it’s really good. The curds are top notch. The gravy could do with being a little thicker, but otherwise I can’t fault it. Delish poutine.

So now.

Not only will the stall be set up every Wednesday in Spencer Dock, but they will also be operating every Friday at the food market in Percy Place. There are plans afoot to introduce a poutine food truck and perhaps then a small restaurant somewhere in Dublin city centre.

But for now, we can be satisfied that real poutine exists in Ireland

Praise the poutine gods.
