Get it, girl.

AN ACTRESS HAS excellently hit back at body shamers after she became a cruel meme following a sex scene on TV show Empire.

The hit series featured a sex scene between Gabourey Sidibe’s character Becky and her love interest, MC J Poppa.

The scene, broadcast last Wednesday, featured the two on a rooftop and quickly became a meme.

Many thought it was great, so what’s the problem?

The actress hit back at this assumption that somehow viewers were more entitled to a love life than a plus-sized woman is. In a blog post for EW, she said she was not only proud of the scene, but didn’t give a shite if anyone else had a problem with it.

I, a plus sized, dark-skinned woman, had a love scene on primetime television. I had the most fun ever filming that scene, even though I was nervous. But I felt sexy and beautiful and I felt like I was doing a good job.

She continued:

I’m very proud of the work we all did to make that scene a great opening for the episode. I keep hearing that people are ‘hating’ on it. I’m not sure how anyone could hate on love but that’s okay. You may have your memes.

She went on to say that she doesn’t even check Twitter that much as she’s much too busy working on the show.

Sidibe plays the assistant of record company boss Lucious Lyons. Her costar Jussie Smollett was one of the first to jump to her defence.

Speaking to E! Online, he said

I wanted to see it, and millions of other people wanted to see it. I don’ know, those people don’t matter to me, to her, to anybody else.
