This Spin 1038 story about Taylor Swift being 'carried around in a suitcase' went global yesterday

Unfortunately it’s not true :(

Thanks Houston 💋 And @versace_official for making this outfit situation 💕💕💕 @gettyentertainment

YESTERDAY, DUBLIN RADIO station Spin 1038 published a story suggesting that Taylor Swift was being transported out of her New York City apartment in a giant black suitcase.

Spin 1038 reported that Splash News Agency, a leading celebrity news agency and photo service, had taken a series of paparazzi photos with the caption, “Taylor Swift being transported in a huge suitcase from her Tribeca apartment into her truck”.

Ludicrous? Sure. Plausible? Kind of!

Spin 1038’s story quickly went viral and garnered thousands of retweets on social media.

It was the talk of the internet!

“Did you hear? Taylor Swift eluded the paparazzi by enlisting two men to carry her out of her apartment in a trunk!”

Publications like Teen Vogue, MTVNME, GlamourElle, CosmopolitanPopcrush and Bustle picked up on the story and credited Spin 1038 with noticing the caption.

Unfortunately all good things must come to an end.

Last night, Spin (the magazine, not the radio station) reported that Splash News was retracting its earlier caption altogether and all but confirmed that Taylor Swift was not in the giant suitcase.

I literally just put the phone down from someone on Taylor’s camp,” a Splash representative said when contacted by SPIN this afternoon. “We’re having to actually retract that.”
The Splash representative, who declined to be identified by name, said that the Swift shutterbug was “not really a regular photographer that we use,” and had made the claim about Taylor being inside the suitcase without personally verifying it. “The report stated it as a fact, which we actually don’t know,” he continued. “How could we?”

Oh well.

It was fun while it lasted.
