Regional Asset Operations Manager with Irish Water told Morning Ireland that a fitting on top of the pipe, that was laid 40 years ago, was “sheared off”.
A significant and high-pressure water main has been repaired after it burst in Dublin's south inner city yesterday.
Irish Water said yesterday that services would resume today, once pressure has built up in the pipe properly.
