CELEBRITY CHEF NIGELLA Lawson has been prevented from travelling to the US after admitting last year that she took cocaine.

According to the Daily Mail, Lawson was stopped at the boarding gate when she attempted to get on a flight from Heathrow to Los Angeles on Sunday.

Eyewitnesses say she checked in and went through security before being told she was not allowed to board her flight.

It’s believed the US authorities told the airline to stop her travelling to California, where she would have been refused entry to the country.

She had excitedly tweeted her 594,000 followers about the planned trip on Sunday:

On Monday, she informed them that she would be going ‘off line for a while’:

The celebrity chef confessed to cocaine use during the trial of her former housekeepers Francessa and Elisabetta Grillo, who were accused of stealing money from Lawson and her then husband Charles Saatchi.

The UK police decided there would be no further action on her confession, but US authorities seem to have taken a tougher stance – they can choose to bar visitors who have committed drug offences without them ever being charged.

Lawson is a judge on the US cooking show The Taste, meaning her television career across the pond could be in danger if the ban continues.
