THERE WAS NOTHING like a bit of Ricki Lake on Channel 4 for a hungover day of bunking off college in the early noughties. You’d raid your parents’ kitchen (free) snuggle down into their couch (free) and laugh at whatever ridiculous theme the exotic creatures on the show had in common that day (also free).
From the crazy fashion, to the time an Irish guy was on it because his boyfriend had cheated on him with a woman (!), you never knew what treat was in store.
Alas, it was not to be forever. Eventually, you had to start paying your own bills and it certainly wasn’t going to happen while you were languishing on the couch bathing in your own filth. Anyway, the original Ricki Lake show ended in 2004.
Until it came back! The Ricki Lake Show returned to screens in the US in September of last year. However, any hopes you had of recreating those lazy hazy days are over, because it’s been cancelled.
