10 of the worst reviews of Irish landmarks on Trip Advisor

One guy complained that the Guinness wasn’t as good as his Guinness kegerator Guinness.

TRIP ADVISOR IS a wonderful tool if you’re in a city or country you don’t know very well and need some advice on what to do. It’s also a great outlet for people to have a good moan.

So we decided to trawl through some of the odder reviews on the famous tourist spots in Ireland and see what we could find. Here are 10 of the best. Or worst depending on your outlook.

Guinness Store House

One guy wasn’t impressed because he’s a REAL Guinness fan with a kegerator and everything. Get you Mustang.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

I am one of the few people in the world who actually has a full blown Guinness kegerator with the Nitrogen/CO2 mixer and the works. I always wanted to go to St James Gate and get my certificate. I was expecting some actual schooling, but all I got was crowded around a bar with about a dozen other people, told what to do, we all did it, then we apparently all did it perfectly because we all got a certificate. I couldn’t hear half of what the bartender was telling us to do because the room had other bars teaching and they were lour while our guy was quiet. I have my little document, but it isn’t worth a damn. I learned more on youtube.

Another person made a claim that it was the worst pint in Ireland which seems slightly harsh.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

No idea why tourists would ever go there…. the Guinness is possibly the worst I’ve had in Ireland…. and I’m Irish.. word of advice… go to a good bar and get a real pint of Guinness from someone who cares about how what you’re drinking…

Having been a resident of Dublin bars for a few years now I can tell you that nobody cares what you’re drinking as long as you pay for it mate.

The Blarney Stone

This person wouldn’t actually tell us if they kissed the stone or not and left an oddly flirty review title.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

The castle and grounds are so amazing that I guess you could skip the stone, but why would you? The climb up is not for the faint of heart or those that don’t like heights, but put that aside and head on up! The gentlemen that are up there to help you out are there for a reason and worth the tip! Go up and enjoy the grounds from up high!

BUT DID YOU KISS THE STONE?

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

After a lot of convincing my husband agreed to a 6 hour detour so that I could cross kissing the Blarney Stone off my bucket list. We are touring the castles of Ireland and did not have enough time to include Cork in our original plans but found ourselves with an extra day so decided to make the trip. I was so excited to make the trip to Blarney but in hindsight it wasn’t really worth the trouble of the long car journey on unknown roads. Don’t get me wrong – it was a great place and we enjoyed ourselves, but the price was not worth the very small amount of time it takes to take in everything at this castle. €30 for 2 people to kiss a stone and walk around a little is crazy. My husband wouldn’t even kiss it because he has terrible vertigo! What I guess I’m saying is if you happen to be close, stop by, but it’s not worth the hassle of going out of your way for.

Meanwhile this woman made her husband who has vertigo make a 6 HOUR DETOUR so she could kiss the stone? No wonder he wasn’t impressed.

Unless you’re a bucket list sort of person I wouldn’t recommend this at all. Hyped up. Fair play to the person who came up with the idea.

A fair assessment.

The Book of Kells

One eagled eyed reviewer wanted to make sure we all knew this wasn’t the ‘Harry Potter Library’.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

Although we didn’t assume this was the Harry Potter library, other tourists did. The library is absolutely amazing and looks just like the pictures.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

Very under whelming to see 4 pieces of history from a distance and a roped off bunch of books. Maybe historically significant but not worth the effort.

THE BOOK HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 348AD OF COURSE IT’S ROPED OFF.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

This is probably heresy but I thought it was one of the most boring thing I’ve ever done in my life. You pay some 15 euros to see a library, impressive at that and see a video about old books while being pushed around like cattle. And when you finally see the famous “book” it is under glass, as it should be….that’s pretty much it. Sort of like seeing the US Constitution in DC only there it is free and I guess, more meaningful to us. Would not want to go back to Trinity College for this attraction.

You’re right, that is heresy. HOW DARE.

The Cliffs of Moher

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

Okay it was cold and rainy but I really wasn’t impressed. Even in the cold there were lots of tourists everywhere and it was quite a hike to get to a point where one could see the cliffs beauty. Looked at and took a couple of pictures then left.

If you’re too lazy to go look at the cliffs then you don’t to complain about them. NEXT.

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

Very difficult to rate this because while the Cliffs are stunning for their natural beauty, the fiasco that accompanies the Cliffs is stunning for its rudeness, lack of professionalism, lack of organization, and demand for money. I’ve been before. I know what it was like….

This review just sounds vaguely threatening and a bit confusing. Were the cliffs rude to you?

And finally..

Trip Advisor Trip Advisor

Have visited this place on a number of occasions in the course of the summer with friends. Every time I go their it’s crazy busy… 20 acres of cars and busses… for what???
Was wondering if the postman ever called there to collect letters… I have posted a number from there but never received any .. just wondering what happened … as the post box is always full????

You’ve got to love the concern for the postbox.
