Cool as a breeze

Domhnall Gleeson got an agent because he did such a good job accepting an award on behalf of his dad

According to Brendan Gleeson, Domnhall was ‘as cool as a breeze’.

WE ALL KNOW that the Gleeson family are an incredibly talented bunch. Brendan, Domhnall and Brían are all successful actors while Rúairí is an author and director and Fergus is a musician.  But it seems that Domhnall, in particular, has been talented from a very young age.

Late Night with Seth Meyers / YouTube

Brendan Gleeson stopped by Late Night with Seth Meyers last night to talk about the new season of his first TV project Mr Mercedes. While on the show Brendan revealed that Domhnall managed to swing an agent out of accepting an award on behalf of his dad.

It’s not so much I gave him a break as he took it. He went up to accept an award I was given in Ireland. I was in the Czech Republic at the time and I gave him a list of people to thank and just a little line or two of lighter nature.”

As we all know, making sure you don’t forget to thank anyone when you win an award is one of the most important things. Being funny also helps and it turns out 16-year-old Domhnall was a hell of a lot funnier than anyone realised.

He walked on cool as a breeze, he was 16 and he thanked the people and then he said “there’s a joke on here but I don’t think you really want to hear that”.

Classic as they say. And it served Domhnall well as it Brendan revealed that Domhnall got an agent from his very cool, calm and collected acceptance speech.

That folks, is how you do it.

Seth also observed the likeness of all the Gleesons to each other with Brendan joking ‘my wife Mary also looks like me’. I mean it’s the only way to explain how Domhnall, Ruairi and Brian all look exactly like Brendan. What a strong gene pool.
