WITH THE WEATHER being as glorious as it is, gals are ditching the tights and jeans and embracing summer dresses.
But it can be kind of unpleasant for those of us who are thicker of thigh. Thigh chafing (or chub rub) is an absolute bitch – and it can be very painful.
There are a few easy ways to sort it out, so don’t despair. Wear your summer dress (or your shorts, lads get chub rub too) and do not fear for your thighs.
Stick deodorant
This is probably the easiest and cheapest option – slick the deodorant on the areas that give you trouble and head off. Deodorant doesn’t have the best longevity, so you might want to throw it in your bag so you can reapply.
Silicone-based face primer
Not the best option, but if you’re really in a pinch, delve into your makeup bag. Silicone-based primers have enough slip to keep you from feeling the burn for a little while.
Lush dusting powder
This is a fancy little powder, with a lovely scent and cocoa butter to keep things moisturised. You can also use it to ward off boob sweat, if that’s an issue for you.
Bodyglide Ant-Chafe Balm
Runners and cyclists use this to prevent chafing, so you know it’s good stuff – just swipe it on in the areas that give you grief. Bodyglide can usually be found in bike shops, or you can order it from Sports Direct.
Nappy rash cream
Yep! For treating chub that has already been rubbed. I never said this was a sexy business.
Biker shorts
Little shorts are generally helpful to have on in Ireland if you don’t fancy flashing your knickers when a breeze decides to blow in, but they’re a foolproof way to stop chub rub.
They can be hard to find, so if you can’t source a pair, try out some control-top shorts from Penneys or Dunnes (size up to minimise the ‘control’ part).
