sorry lads

Here's a list of Dublin bars that are turning away 12 pubs groups this Christmas

No room at the inn.

THE  NOW-ANNUAL tradition of the 12 Pubs of Christmas attracts loads of festive jumper-wearing revellers on a particularly long pub crawl – but there is a growing amount of Dublin pubs that are turning against it and banning them all together.

So DailyEdge.ie got in touch with some bars in the capital that are doing just that:

The Long Hall, George’s Street

It was an unequivocal no from The Long Hall:

We have a blanket ban on them this year. If you have a lot of them in then it just starts getting messy.

Neary’s, Chatham Street

They have a similarly no fuss attitude to the groups in Neary’s:

Yes, as much as possible. We absolutely turn them away.

JJ Smyths, Aungier Street

Are they turning them away?

Most definitely. We’re a very small pub and we can’t handle big groups. It might be OK if we got them early, but if you get them late it’s a different story.

The Thomas House, Thomas Street

The rock bar will be keeping a very close eye on proceedings:

We do it on a case by case basis. We always ask a few questions when they arrive in.

Fallon’s, The Coombe

While not an official policy per se, it’s a case of logistics in Fallon’s:

It’s only a small little place, we can’t handle them.

Gravediggers, Glasnevin

The Glasnevin institution draws the line depending on how deep into the 12 a group is:

Generally, after four or five they wouldn’t be welcome.

The Palace Bar, Fleet Street

Just like last year, they confirmed that they won’t be welcoming the 12 pubs again.

The Swan, Aungier Street

The timeless Dublin spot confirmed to TheJournal.ie that they’re having none of it again this year:

We haven’t served them for the eight or nine years. Customers don’t want them here. We’re not able to cater for them and it’s not the right environment. People come here to relax and have a drink with friends.

So now, that’s them told.
