Gamestop to honour Duke Nukem pre-orders ten years on

Irish gamers won’t be availing of the service, but there are those in America who have held on to their receipts for a decade. Duke Nukem Forever has been 12 years in the making.

US GAMING STORES are telling people who pre-ordered the long-awaited Duke Nukem game over a decade ago to bring in their receipts, and there’ll be a copy reserved for them.

Duke Nukem Forever has been 12 years in the making, but is finally being released in Ireland on 10 June. Gamestop stores in the US will be honouring reservations made by customers who had hoped it would be released a long time ago.

A spokesperson for Gamestop Ireland has told TheJournal.ie that pre-ordering for Duke Nukem was never available in Ireland and that its ordering system has only been in place since 2003, so the gesture only applies to US stores. The spokesperson also said that those who pre-ordered the game would have been doing so for an out-of-date format.

Metro reports that the game’s original developer almost went bankrupt, and it was finished by Texan developer Gearbox. A launch trailer for the game has been posted online today, with warnings about graphic content.
