AN IRISH FILM about a lost fortune has been selected for the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival next month.

The Lance Daly movie Life’s a Breeze stars Pat Shortt and Fionnula Flanagan and tells the story of a family’s race to reclaim one million euro that’s been accidentally binned.

Joe Duffy and Ryan Tubridy have cameos in the film, which also stars Kelly Thornton and Eva Birthistle.

Life’s A Breeze has been selected as part of the Contemporary World Cinema section of the festival and will have its international premiere in the Canadian city next month.

It opened in Irish cinemas earlier this summer.

The film is set to screen alongside Hollywood releases like 12 Years a Slave, starring Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt, and Gravity, starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney.

Shortt will travel to Canada to promote the film following a stint on the West End with Daniel Radcliffe in Michael Grandage’s The Cripple of Inishmaan.

Radcliffe also has three films in the Toronto selection including the Irish co-production The F Word, which was filmed in Dublin last year.

Macdara Kelleher, producer of Life’s a Breeze said this is a fantastic opportunity:

We are delighted to be returning to the Toronto International Film Festival with Life’s A Breeze and The F Word. It’s one of the biggest film festivals in the world and a great place to launch a movie.

The TIFF website calls Life’s a Breeze “delightful” while Twitch Film has compared it to Waking Ned and The Full Monty.

Ondine, In America and What Richard Did are among other Irish films that have had their international premieres in Toronto.
