A group that 'resents fat people' is handing women these body-shaming cards

The group, called ‘Overweight Haters Ltd’, is targeting women on the London Underground.

A GROUP THAT “hates and resents fat people” is handing out cards reading ‘FAT’ to women on the London Underground.

The cards first made an appearance on Saturday, when NHS worker Kara Florish was handed one:

They were created by a group called Overweight Haters Ltd, which says it “hates and resents fat people” who waste “NHS money to feed your selfish greed”.

Writing in a post on Facebook that was later shared on the image hosting site SLiMG, Florish said:

I would appreciate if people tweeted, posted etc all over the internet. I am not upset myself, I am smaller than the national average and not exactly obese, but this is hateful and cowardly and could potentially upset people struggling with confidence and eating disorders.

Author Thomas Knox claims he saw a man handing the same card to a woman on a train at Oxford Circus earlier today.

“Am 99.9% sure this wasn’t staged,” Knox wrote.

She didn’t even realise I was watching at first. Her stunned, desolate reaction was very real.

The cards have received a largely negative response online, and the British Transport Police have asked anyone who has received a card to contact them.

In response, plus-size retailer Navabi has printed up cards with a positive message to hand out to people in Oxford Circus.
