EARLIER THIS month, Pope Francis admitted that while he “doesn’t mind” being Pope, he does miss being able to pop out for a pizza without being recognised.
Luckily for him, a Naples pizzeria concocted a plan to deliver a pizza right into the Pope’s hands – and they succeeded.
As the Pope was travelling through the Italian city yesterday, staff from the Don Ernesto pizzeria jumped the barrier and handed him a pie, personalised with the words ‘Il Papa’ made out of dough.
According to Mashable, the pizza was topped with Buffalo Ricotta, Mozzarella, and Provolone cheeses along with yellow Vesuvius tomatoes. Nom.
Sadly, the pizza appears to have been whisked away from the Pope before he could have a slice, but that didn’t stop the men from Don Ernesto skitting and laughing with pure excitement:
