Which is why it’s so funny that this is how his native Portugal has chosen to commemorate him.
Earlier this afternoon, Madeira International Airport was named Aeroporto Cristiano Ronaldo after the footballer… and this bust of his likeness was unveiled.
The man himself showed up to the ceremony, along with the Portuguese Prime Minister and President – and fair play to him, he didn’t look too bothered by what had been done to his face.
However, the tweets and the memes have begun in earnest.
