Be Like Bill is the stick man meme that's annoying so many people on Facebook

It’s a phenomenon.

IF YOU HAVE been on Facebook over the last couple of days, chances are you have come across Bill.

Bill is a stick man that appears beside some text – usually commenting on something annoying people do on social media:

The Official Be Like Bill Facebook page has over 1.3 million likes even though its first post was on January 7th – which was this

Recently though, you’re more likely to see Bill standing and wearing this hat

As the BBC reports, the man behind the page is Milan-based artist Eugeniu Croitoru and he tells them that the idea behind Bill is a relatable one:

The idea is very simple. ‘Bill’ can be anyone who is smart and has common sense and doesn’t do annoying things. You’ll also notice Bill can be someone who makes fun of himself and jokes about others too occasionally

Not only has the official page exploded in popularity, but it has spawned international equivalents too.

But it’s also spawned a serious backlash – with loads of “Don’t Be Like Bill” pages starting up

Poor Bill.

And people are now just taking the piss out of Bill – because he is EVERYWHERE

While some people love Bill, others see it as the death of their Facebook feed

The fact that it was funny at the start is acknowledged by some, but that hasn’t saved Bill from the ire

It’s new, but it’s already divided the internet

So now. Let’s see how far Bill is going to go
