Taylor Swift had to go to jury duty like a mere mortal and her fellow jurors lost it

So many selfies.

ON SUNDAY NIGHT, the biggest names in music gathered in Madison Square Garden for the MTV Video Music Awards.

Here are some of them just chilling out afterwards. No biggy.

Notably absent from the evening’s proceedings was one Taylor Swift. But it turns out she didn’t just skip the event to avoid Kim and Kanye’s glares — she was actually performing her civic duty.

Yes, Taylor Swift was actually performing jury duty in Nashville.

“You know we can probably get you out of this, Taylor?”

“NO, I MUST PERFORM MY CIVIC DUTY.”

Celebrities – they’re just like us!

Now obviously, Taylor Swift didn’t go unnoticed.

As such, she was required to take selfies with all her potential fellow jurors.

Seriously, there were so many selfies.

Imagine all the people she had to say hello to :|

People sniggered when she was asked what she did for a living.

“So, Miss Swift, what do you do?”

Oh, and in case you thought Taylor Swift could just rock up for jury duty like a normal person…

Well, you were wrong.

Journalist Hayley Mason reported that Taylor Swift was being considered as a juror for a trial that included charges of aggravated rape, aggravated kidnap and domestic assault.

Swift informed prosecutors that she was currently involved in a civil sexual assault case, but would be able to remain impartial.

(Taylor Swift is currently embroiled in a lawsuit involving a radio DJ whom she alleges groped her during a meet and greet in 2013.)

While Taylor progressed through the juror rounds…

“You are still in the running toward becoming America’s Next Top Juror.”

She was ultimately dismissed from the jury pool and allowed to go free.

Which is a shame because now we’ll never know if Taylor would have assembled a #JurySquad

Oh well, there’s always next time.
