WHAT STARTS OFF as a meme, usually spills into the real world all too quickly.
Prince has been influenced by the popular hashtag #ThisCouldBeUsButYouPlayin and is now integrating it into his music. Despite once saying that the internet is ‘over’, he’s releasing a a ‘joyful ballad’ called This Could Be Us that will appear on his next album.
But what does this hashtag, rampant on Twitter and Tumblr MEAN? Basically, it’s used beside a photo you want to present as ‘this is what you could have if you weren’t so busy off doing silly things’. But this is the internet, so it’s not sincere, of course. They’re usually making fun of the photo, not presenting actual ideals.
