UNSURPRISINGLY, AIRLINES GET a little jumpy at talk of terrorist groups and mysterious veiled threats – even if it is a joke.
That didn’t stop one 14-year-old Twitter user combining both of those in a tweet to American Airlines this afternoon.
While terrorists are unlikely to out themselves and their plans like this on Twitter, the airline nonetheless have to report it to the proper authorities.
In this case, that involves recording her IP address and contacting the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Needless to say she had a mixed reaction, including “I was joking and it was my friend not me” and “I’m 14 I can’t control a plane”.

A tweet about a British airport in 2010 led to a man being arrested on suspicion of communicating a hoax bomb threat.
“Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together, otherwise I’m blowing the airport sky high!!” the 26-year-old tweeted.
He was bailed after six-hours of questioning, The Guardian reports.
