THE BECKHAMS HAVE welcomed their fourth child into the world and in typical unique and bizarre Beckham style they have named their first girl Harper Seven Beckham.

Making the announcement on his Facebook page, football superstar David Beckham said the new born was well and healthy and that mother Victoria is doing well.

Harper’s new brothers, Brooklyn, Romeo and Cruz, were said to be delighted with their new sister:

I am so proud and excited to announce the birth of our daughter Harper Seven Beckham. She weighed a healthy 7lbs 10oz and arrived at 7.55 this morning, here in LA. Victoria is doing really well and her brothers are delighted to have a baby sister xx

Already Twitter and the internet is abuzz with talk of what’s behind the unusual name.

The Sun says that Beckham shed tears of joy and speculates that the ‘Seven’ in Harper’s name is a reference to “a lucky and spiritual number” for the Beckhams noting that the baby arrived at around 7am on the seventh month of the year.

Mail Online reckons that ‘Seven’ could be a reference to David’s number whilst he was at Manchester United and captain of England.

Or maybe Posh and Becks took inspiration from Seinfeld:

Meanwhile, the ‘Harper’ in Harper Seven, could be a reference to the magazine Harper’s Bazaar where Victoria Beckham has appeared on a number of occasions.

Or maybe it is a reference to Harper Lee, author of To Kill a Mocking Bird, a book that was published on this very day back in 1960.
