Viable explosive device made safe in Coolock overnight

Residents from the Belcamp Crescent area were evacuated after the explosive device was found inside a home.

AN EXPLOSIVES DISPOSAL team from the Defence Forces was called to Coolock in Dublin overnight to make safe  viable explosive device.

The suspicious device was spotted inside a private residence overnight, prompting Gardaí to evacuate the area and summon the bomb disposal unit.

The team arrived at 3:10am and were able to neutralise the device without the need for a controlled explosion.

The device has since been moved to a secure military location for further examination, and its remains will then be given to Gardaí to assist with investigations.

The area was declared safe at 7:45am.
