Gutter journalism: reporter gets drenched in sea foam whilst covering Irene

Tucker Barnes went to extraordinary and some might say unnecessary lengths to cover Hurricane Irene.

REPORTING CAN BE a nasty business but sometimes getting to the heart of a story requires a journalist to get their hands dirty, or in the case of this reporter, covered in sea foam.

Local station WTTG-TV had reporter Tucker Barnes out in the field yesterday delivering live hurricane reports from the boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland as Irene hit the east coast of the United States.

“It doesn’t taste great,” he said as a strange sort of sea foam covered him.

The foam was most likely mixed with the remnants of raw sewage but MyFox New York reports that it could be a toxic mix of pollution and something called cyanobacteria.

Whatever it is, it doesn’t look at all pleasant.
