STATISTICALLY, IT’S MORE likely than not that when you get 23 people together in a group, two of them will share a birthday.
There are 19 people who sit at the Cabinet table when it meets every time, but as it so happens, the man at the head of the table – Fine Gael’s Taoiseach, Enda Kenny – shares a birthday with his new right hand man, Eamon Gilmore.
The two were born on April 24 – Kenny on 1951, making him 60 years old today, while Gilmore is four years younger having been born on 1955.
That means Kenny was born on a Tuesday (making him “full of grace”, while Gilmore – who was born on a Sunday in 1955, albeit two weeks after Easter – is “bonny and blithe and good and gay” because of his birth on the Christian Sabbath.
So, with the head of government and his second-in-command both celebrating their birthdays today, we’ve been asking our readers on Facebook for their birthday present suggestions.
Their sometimes witty, occasionally sad, and always bang-on-the-money suggestions are below.
