WHEN WE WERE searching for a picture to illustrate this week’s Burning Question, we came across this piece of incontrovertible proof that summers WERE hotter back in the olden days (okay, the late 1950s).
From the Press Association archive, may we present “Dublin model Sheila McDonough takes advantage of the hot weather to fry eggs on the roof of her car at Seapoint, County Dublin, Ireland.”
If anyone knows Sheila, we’d love to hear from you.
The picture was taken on 23 June 1959. But here, if the car roof is so hot, how are Sheila’s bare legs not roasting? Hmmm…
