How did yelling goats in pop videos become a thing?

One word: Internet.

YELLING GOATS IN pop videos. It’s now a thing. And there’s nothing you can do about it.

So how did this state of affairs come about?

Let us take you back to 2009. Way back then, this video of a goat yelling like a man went viral:


All was quiet for a while, except that there were a few more videos of goats yelling like people. (They seem to make a habit of it.)

Then a year or so later, BAM! Oprah and the yelling goat:


Again, there was quiet. But momentum was quietly building behind the yelling goats. Until a couple of weeks ago, when a supercut of ALL the yelling goats together went viral:


And here we reach the tipping point. Somehow, somewhere, someone thought of putting a yelling goat into a Taylor Swift video, resulting in this work of bizarre genius:
