RED-HOT FURNITURE giant IKEA is taking action against the parody porn site that features its beds.
HotMalm.com is a (suitable for work) parody of a porn website, with images of IKEA’s Malm flat-pack bed in various compromising positions. “Big Beautiful Malm Strips Outside” and “Malm Gets Hammered”, for instance.
IKEA, however, is not amused. A spokesperson told Swedish news site Nyheter24:
It is essential and very important to us that our customers feel safe and know when it’s Ikea talking.
She added that the furniture chain was examining how to take action against HotMalm.com.
In the case of channels owned by others, we can ask the owners to remove the page if it is offensive or trademark infringement.
Just two of the titillating sights available on HotMalm.com
HotMalm.com – with its blinking adverts for “Hot Slats” and “2 Simple Steps to a Bigger Beam” – is the work of several, um, creative minds at advertising agency Droga5.
One of them, Asa Block, told AdWeek:
My roommate and I were on the obligatory post-collegiate Ikea trip and buying new beds. Of course, we started giggling at the Malm series and before long, every time someone said the word ‘mom’ we would reply ‘HotMalm.com.’ Fast-forward three years and we are both grown men, still living in an Ikea furnished apartment, and still thinking way too much about this stuff. Now, we just have a website to show for it
He added: “We have never watched porn.”
