From a 1984 Rolling Stone article:

She met an artist, a man in his sixties named Bob Barrell, with whom she studied for a while. He introduced her to poets and politics (although she’d already been a peace marcher in high school) and to such writers as Thoreau. Inspired, Cyndi set off with her dog, a mutt named Sparkle, for Canada, where she spent two weeks in the woods north of Toronto, sleeping in a tent and sketching trees.

A dog named Sparkle? Sounds like the perfect companion to spend a fortnight in the woods with.

They made me have lots of vodka and cranberry juice in remembrance of what a nasty piece of work I was being. Now if I find myself making a big mistake I have to force myself to drink that stuff to remind me not to be such an idiot!

Vodka to make you act like less of an idiot? Sounds like it could backfire.

But don't go thinking he's embarrassed...

I'm actually not remotely ashamed—that is me in my natural habitat, thank you. I might not be an Adonis, but I like to think of myself as an Adonis in that photo.

Good man, Tom.
