Irish name fail: No fadas accepted round here

An Aer Lingus customer was not one bit happy when he couldn’t register his daughter’s name in the correct way.

FOR THOSE OF you who found having an Irish name abroad a struggle, well now the issue seems to have followed you home.

The above Aer Lingus customer was not one bit happy when he couldn’t register his daughter’s name in the correct way.

Even on the Irish national airline’s webpage, fadas are viewed as ‘invalid characters’.

While some of you might think this is a bit pedantic, others feel their name is incorrect without a fada.

An Aer Lingus spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that they would like to include “fadas in customers’ names while booking however it is not currently technically possible”.
