Jamie Oliver jumped into Oprah's Instagram comments to correct her on the herb in a photo - and call her 'mate'

Even Oprah gets confused sometimes.

My favorite day of the week. #Harvestday

IF YOU FOLLOW Oprah Winfrey on Instagram then you will know that she is an avid gardener and vegetable-grower.

She documents her gardening exploits using the hashtag #harvestday and says things like, “Is there anything better than a freshly picked tomato?” No, Oprah. There isn’t!

Yesterday, however, Oprah revealed that she’s still not quite au fait with everything that grows in her garden.

She shared a photo of herself holding a giant basket and wrote, “What to do with all this Dill?”

What to do with all this Dill? #Harvestday

Only problem? That’s not dill.

Enter Jamie Oliver. The proper wicked chef stumbled across Oprah’s post and decided to slide into her comments to set her straight.

That’s fennel mate I love it roasted , slowly fry it until sweet , very finely slice it for salads with great olive oil salt and pepper it’s delicious enjoy

First of all, imagine having the temerity to address Oprah as “mate”. Secondly, how embarrassing for Oprah.

Jamie Oliver was not the only celebrity to correct her. Fashion designer Zac Posen also took it upon himself to dispense some top fennel tips.

Eventually Oprah copped to the error of her ways and thanked both men for explaining herbs to her.

Her verdict? It’s a “little too fancy”.

If fennel is too fancy for Oprah, what hope do the rest of us have?
