IT’S THAT TIME of the year again. Brace yourself: Valentine’s Day is coming.
In the wise, wise words of 30 Rock’s Liz Lemon…
Here are all the iron-clad reasons for staying at home on your couch this year…
1. Drop the pressure
Ever heard the phrase “pressure makes diamonds”? Well, forget it. Whether we like it or not, social media has increased the cultural pressure on couples to have a photo-worthy evening on Valentine’s. Skip the competitive uploading – whether single or loved-up.
2. PDA meetings
Let’s face it: PDAs are gross. Bottom line. You know where you won’t have to endure watching people having a tongue sandwich this Valentine’s? At home. Thank God.
3. Pucker up
That said, one of the advantages to staying home means that you can PDA to your heart’s content, knowing you’re not annoying anyone.
No, seriously, no one.
4. Smug life
If you stay in, you won’t have to see those couples. You know the ones we mean. Enough said.
5. Miss Manners
Another major benefit of staying at home is the luxury of just dispensing with polite society’s etiquette completely. Let’s face it, you and your other half are waaay beyond having boundaries around each other.
6. Greed is good
When it comes to your Valentine’s Day grub, you should be channeling Gordon Gekko’s infamous mantra. Let’s face it – in a restaurant, you might feel a little shame at ordering two mains and a side of whatever carb is going. But, in the comfort of your own gaff, who’s going to know? No judgements here.
7. And finally…
One word: DUVETS. Can you bring your duvet to a restaurant, bar or club? No? Then we’re not going. You’ll be cancelling those dinner reservations before you can say “couch fort”.
