RTÉ SAYS THAT an average of 976,400 people tuned into to watch episode one of season 5 of Love/Hate last night.

That figure represents 56% per cent of the share of the audience who were sitting down for some Sunday evening telly.

That’s even more than last year, which saw the first episode of season 4 drawing an audience of 971,000. The share is also up on last year, from 53 per cent.

While a development deal is in place for a sixth season of Love/Hate, writer Stuart Carolan has said that it depends on the season five viewing figures.

This series will run for six episodes until 9 November.
