13 moments which mean we'll never forget The O.C.

The show premiered ten years ago this week.

TEN YEARS AGO this week, The. O.C. premiered on television, and we all became enamoured with the idea of life in California.

The people were so good looking!  The gafs were massive! There was sunshine every day!

Alas, most of us couldn’t actually move to Orange County, so we had to settle for watching it on telly for an hour every week.

It lasted for four seasons before calling it a day, but boy did those four seasons give us some magical moments.

Here are thirteen such moments, given to us by The O.C.

Welcome to the O.C., b***h!

This iconic line was uttered in the series’ first ever episode, and has been repeated ever since.

Ryan gets to stay

Kirsten decides that Ryan is going to stay with them, thus setting up the whole series.

Seth and Summer’s first kiss

‘Acknowledge me now or lose me forever.’

Ryan runs to be with Marissa on New Year’s Eve

And we all listened to ‘Dice’ on repeat for about a month.

Julie Cooper has an affair with Luke

Her daughter’s ex boyfriend, of course.

Marissa goes gay

Marissa’s brief relationship with Olivia Wilde’s Alex blew many a teenage mind.

Caleb Nicholl’s funeral

He was a total jerk, and yet this was really emotional.

Sandy Cohen serenades Kirsten

Did you fancy Sandy Cohen?  We totally fancied Sandy Cohen.

The advent of Chrismukkah

This was Seth at his quirky, adorable best.

The death of Marissa

Mischa Barton decided to leave the series, presumably thinking she’d be able to capitalise on her fame and have a big movie career (shame about that), so they killed her off.

The music…all of the music

The music of the O.C. played a huge role in the show, with several soundtrack albums being released.

It’s difficult to separate the show’s key moments from the songs used in each scene.

Lauren, Heidi and The Hills

Without The O.C. we would never have had Laguna Beach, and without Laguna Beach, we would never have had The Hills.

Blackrock becoming ‘the O.C. of Ireland’

Ok, so this isn’t actually a moment from The O.C., but it would never have happened without it.

Poor Lorcan.

Right…we’re off to dig out our box sets.  Altogether now, ‘CALIFORNIAAAAAAAAA…CALIFORNIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA…HERE WE COOOOOMMME…’
