9 reasons why Miriam O'Callaghan would be the perfect President

Could it happen?

THE NEWS BROKE over the weekend that Miriam O’Callaghan might be putting together a bid for the Irish Presidency in 2018.

Could it be? Could we have a President Miriam O’Callaghan? Well, here are some reasons why she might suit the esteemed office if she gets elected:

1. She doesn’t put up with any nonsense

There would be no messing around at official functions. Everything would be on schedule and Miriam would be doing the countdowns properly. By herself.

2. She can get through the toughest situations

She can survive anything. Even this horribly awkward kiss with Joe Duffy. It’s this calm under pressure that would help her at the diplomatic top table.

3. She can pretend to get on with people she might not even like

This is extremely important when you’re going for your 4th State dinner of the month as President. Meeting another set of diplomats you’d rather not chat to is par for the Presidential course. She is the master at this.

4. Her family already cope with her fame on a daily basis

It wouldn’t be much of a step up in profile for her – she’s already been dealing with this kind of thing for years.

5. She has the political knowledge needed to thrive

She would hardly be confused by new legislation, anyway.

6. She can always be relied on for a Presidential photoshoot from time to time

Miriam is the perfect President for nice photoshoots of babies, campaigns and anything else that the office of the President requires.

7. She’s used to the rough and tumble of the Irish media

Politics would be handy compared to this sort of stuff.

8. She would be the first Irish President to have taken the Ice Bucket Challenge

9. Let’s face it, she would certainly be the coolest President of all time

Probably never, that’s when.
