TOUGH ENOUGH TO walk through fire, get electric shocks, jump into ice, and swim in mud?
If you are, you’re as brave as these hardy souls who tackled the above – which included the sinisterly-named Arctic Enema obstacle – during the 2012 Tough Mudder Extreme Endurance Challenge, which was held in the grounds of Drumlanrig Castle and Country Estate in Dumfriesshire this weekend.
The 12-mile obstacle course is designed by the UK’s Special Forces to test fitness, stamina and mental strength, and the events take place around the world in different locations.

This year there were over 5,000 participants taking part throughout the weekend at the Dumfriesshire event, where they braved 100,000 gallons of mud, waist-high swamps, underground tunnels, and electric shocks as they conquered the 22 obstacles.
We’re not sure what part scares us the most – still, it looks like most of the participants enjoyed their time as Tough Mudders, if these pics are anything to go by.
