11 YEARS AGO, a serious theft took place on a UK college campus.
The above sign for a student accommodation building was stolen from Bath University, and it looked like the mystery would never be solved.
But yesterday the sign was returned fully in tact, with this note from the perpetrator:
The full note from the mystery person reads:
Thank you for the loan of your sign for the past 11 years.
I promise I have looked after it well. You will be pleased to hear I have grown up a lot since graduating from Bath. I now work in management for a very well known multinational brand and no longer steal signs.
Thank you and apologies again.
A sorry former sign thief.
The University announced the news on its website yesterday – and it’s since blown up into a major story on the BBC and elsewhere.
The quick thinkers over in the Bath administration are using this opportunity to put out the following plea:
The University is wondering which other former students might be willing to return ‘borrowed’ items, rumoured to include traffic cones, a length of yellow piping and even a few books, all of which can be returned anonymously.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
