ONE IN TWO Irish tellies that were turned on were tuned to RTÉ  last night to watch the lovely girls of the Rose of Tralee.

According to figures released by RTÉ an average of 668,000 watched the final of the competition – that’s 49 percent of the people who were sitting in front of the box.

At its peak 1.2 million people were watching the show live from the Dome; they stuck around for a nose straight after the Nine O’Clock News.

More than 808,000 people watched the Texas Rose Haley O’Sullivan as she was named the 55th Rose of Tralee.

Over a hundred thousand people watched the show online on the RTÉ Player, with 40 per cent of those watching outside Ireland.

The executive producer of this year’s Rose of Tralee Michael Kealy attributed some of the show’s success to Dáithí Ó Sé’s “effervescent personality”…
