Here's what's actually happening with the crust on Brunch ice creams

The truth will out.

THE BRUNCH ICE cream is a controversial Irish institution. Some love it, some hate it.

But recently there has been a slew of complaints from Brunch fans who feel cheated by the lack of biscuity crumb coating their ice cream.

These calls for a better-coated Brunch have spread to Facebook and to Reddit, where people are recalling the dark days of BrunchGate 2013:

So what is actually happening? Have Brunches gone downhill forever?

We contacted HB Ireland for comment, who told us this: there was a rogue batch of Brunches where the crumb was the wrong size and didn’t stick properly. Sadly, some of these are still in circulation.

Said a company spokesperson:

We have identified a production issue which unfortunately means that some Brunches haven’t been looking as biscuity as they should. We have recently resolved the problem but know that that there is still a small amount of the affected product on sale.

TL;DR: the company say they’ve now fixed the issue and are replenishing Ireland with the Good Brunches:

Hallelujah.
