win or lose

Adele, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Rebel Wilson... It's our celeb winners and losers of the week

Some will win, some will lose.

DailyEdge praises those who rocked the week in celebland, while keeping a watchful eye on those who should just log off forever.

Losers

Scott Disick

What’s new here, says you. If you keep up with Scott, you might remember that he was recently spotted canoodling with 19-year-old actress Bella Thorne in Cannes. She’s after revealing why she left him there after just a day and a half:

I don’t drink, and he really drinks a lot… I just wasn’t down. I love to go out and have fun, but I just don’t party hardcore like that and it was way too much for me.

Also Bella, you are 19 and he is a 34-year-old dad of three. It appears he’s been trying to make amends by sending her a massive bouquet of flowers – but it looks like he sent the exact same flowers to his ex, Kourtney Kardashian, on the same day. Ah Scott.

Elizabeth Banks

Oh dear. Actress and director Elizabeth Banks made a big boo boo this week when she called out Steven Spielberg for “never making a movie with a female lead” – forgetting he directed The Color Purple, a film about oppressed black women.

To her credit, she apologised for her mistake, saying she was thinking of more recent Spielberg films and not dismissing the importance of The Color Purple:

Those who have the privilege and honor of directing and producing films should be held to account for our mistakes, whether it’s about diversity or inaccurate statements.

Leonardo DiCaprio

Who keeps their headphones in while hanging out with their friends, Leo? WHO? (Also important to note that Orlando Bloom is now a member of the Pussy Posse.)

And the winners

Adele, Rita Ora, Lily Allen, Simon Cowell, and Jamie Oliver

These are all the famous names who came out to support the victims of the Grenfell Tower Block fire – Adele, Rita and Lily went to the scene to comfort the residents, offer places to sleep, and sort out donations.

Simon Cowell is organising a charity single to benefit the affected, and Jamie Oliver opened the doors of his nearby restaurant to those who need food and drink. Fair play to all.

Rebel Wilson

This week, Rebel won a defamation case against the publishers of Women’s Day, an Australian women’s magazine – she said the magazine had damaged her career by claiming she lied about her name, age, and upbringing.

The whole trial was wild, with Rebel having to prove she is related to Walt Disney, amongst other things – you can read about all the strange ins and outs of it here.

Josh Brolin

The actor was invited to an 80s-themed party this week – so he dressed up as Brand Walsh, his character in The Goonies.

“I didn’t know what to dress as (Henry Rollins? Boy George? A Gremlin?) then my wife said, ‘I got you covered’,” he wrote on Instagram. Excellent choice.

And that’s it for the celebs who impressed us and distressed us this week – see you next Saturday for more!
