2016 HASN’T HAD a legitimate homegrown summer anthem yet – but it looks like one has been bestowed upon us just in time.
Letterkenny hip hop group Phat KiiDZ have got together with the legendary band Goats Don’t Shave – of Las Vegas (In the Hills of Donegal) fame – to produce an instant classic:
It’s called GAA Jersey and it’s an absolute TUNE
Some of the lyrics are just perfect:
“I love the way that you look in your GAA jersey. From the way that you sound I can tell that you’re straight from the country”
And the chorus:
“Skinny jeans with the GAA… the GAA jersey”
“I work hard baby you know me… let me hold you like an All Ireland trophy”
“Can’t wait to see my baby, looks good in a GAA jersey”
And, most beautifully of all, the Donegal GAA references are on point:
“Straight to the point like Michael Murphy, one more point to win the season… having pints for no reason”
Brilliant.
