Let’s just say they were pretty ecstatic about the promotion.
Among Huddersfield’s high profile celebrity fans is none other than Sir Patrick Stewart, who originally hails from the town.
Earlier today, he shared a photo of himself ahead of the side’s “most important game in over 100 years”.

It was a tense affair and the camera kept cutting to Sir Patrick Stewart to see how he was holding up.
His face when they were officially promoted was priceless.
The actor’s son Daniel Stewart shared this heartwarming snap after the match and revealed that Sir Patrick had a bit of a delayed reaction at the end…

The game was at times a little bit subdued and we missed a number of chances, chances that we should probably have grasped. But we were dominating the game for most of the game so it’s not as though this result went against the run of the game. We were the better side. We had commitment and energy and determination right up until the final penalty.
I have to tell you – I thought there were two more penalties. I didn’t realise that the penalties were over. So I was turning away when I heard the result.
