Kate Winslet has said bullies locked her in a school cupboard and called her ‘Blubber’.
The actress urged thousands of children to stand up to bullies in a charity event yesterday, sharing stories of her own mistreatment at the hands of classmates:
They called me Blubber. Teased me for wanting to act. Locked me in the cupboard. Laughed at me. I was told that I might be lucky with my acting if I was happy to settle for the fat girl parts.

I was watching people start to have this panicked reaction in the crowd and guys were coming on with headsets and I felt like someone had been hurt. I thought there was some kind of medical situation, and I had this worst case scenario playing out in my head. And then I just heard “Oh, Moonlight won” and I was so relieved that I started laughing.
