EVERY YEAR, THE town of Durrow in Laois holds an actual scarecrow festival – where people make their own effigies for the craic.
It’s now in its seventh year, and began again over the weekend.
And some of the scarecrows are brilliant
They referenced Hollywood and farming in one fell swoop
Others achieved that scary look that is the hallmark of a good scarecrow
Imagine strolling past these characters on a casual Sunday afternoon
Or spotting this bride and groom outside a bar
Everywhere you turn, there seems to be some scarecrow activity
Kudos to the bale artistry on show
And finally… this giraffe was only delighted when he spotted Noah’s Ark in the middle of Durrow
