Muslims have brilliantly co-opted the #1in5Muslims hashtag after THAT poll in The Sun

YESTERDAY, THE SUN published an article stating that nearly one in five British Muslims has “some sympathy with those who have fled the UK to fight for IS in Syria”.

People accused the newspaper of “inciting hatred” and spreading “dangerous lies” and The Sun was criticised for the manner in which it interpreted the poll results.

Following the furore, British Muslims decided to co-opt the #1in5Muslims hashtag to brilliant effect.

They shared these important (and entirely made-up) statistics

All in an effort to combat the equally ridiculous stereotypes that they’re regularly subjected to

(Inshallah means ‘God willing’ in Arabic.)

There were Zayn-related facts.

There was some self-deprecation thrown in there

And some knowing winks to the hashtag itself

*hair flick*

Well played, internet.
