WHILE YOU WERE sleeping the New York Giants won the Super Bowl - one of the biggest sporting events on earth which isn’t just about big fellas with lots of padding throwing around a pigskin.

The Super Bowl is an iconic event in the American calendar which can be as notable for what happens off the field – Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction – as it is for what happens on it – the Giants almost lost it in the last minute.

Then there’s the ads or commercials as they call them on the other side of the Atlantic. Companies pay millions for a primetime slot during the one of the most watched events in the world.

There were over 52 ads in total. We’ve already seen Matthew Broderick reprise his role as Ferris Bueller and you can watch them all here, but we’ve picked out the best five for your viewing pleasure:
