5 videos of non-Irish people attempting Irish accents

Remember when Micheál Martin had a go at Chinese? What about when the roles are reversed?

WE KNOW THAT Irish is the sexiest accent in the world or maybe the third sexiest and we found out this week that the Donegal accent is the sexiest of all the accents in the country.

So it will come as no surprise that people not from our great country will try their hand at our accent. Sure, it’s not as if we Irish don’t do it ourselves. Remember when Fianna Fáil leader Micheál Martin tried the Chinese accent for example?

Anyway, here’s a few videos of non-Irish people trying their hand at that famous lovely, sexy, accent of ours:

Harry Styles

If you’re not familiar with One Direction, here’s a quick guide: They’re five young fellas off X Factor who didn’t win but were quite popular and subsequently secured a record deal.

Their ranks include Westmeath-born Niall Horan whose Irish accent is not in doubt. But band mate Harry Styles, from Cheshire, reckons he has what it takes to do his own version:

Sallie Mackey

This girl has nearly 250,000 views on YouTube for her attempt at an Irish accent. She wants your feedback “but please be nice,” she adds:

Robin Williams

Robin Williams live on Broadway at his finest talking about typical Irish things in a typical Irish accent. He tries a few other accents too (Warning: contains some foul language):

Marcus Davis

This American welterweight martial artist may have some Irish heritage in him but there’s little doubting his American accent. So what happens when attempts a bit of Blarney as they might call it over the Atlantic?

Glenn Beck

Former Fox News host and Tea Party favourite Glenn Beck is not one to shy away from airing controversial views and he’s not one for shying away from an attempt at a bad Irish accent either. Check this out about 1 minute 15 seconds in:
