Here’s what the critics make of 25.

UNLESS YOU’VE BEEN living under a rock for the past month, you’re probably well aware that Adele’s third album, 25, is due to be released on Friday.

And now, the first reviews are in and it seems like we’ve got a lot to be excited about.

The Telegraph gave it five stars and wrote that “pop doesn’t come much more perfect than this”

Covering much of the same kind of musical and emotional terrain, 25 is certainly the equal of its predecessor. What it sacrifices in youthful rawness it makes up in maturity and sheer class. Adele Adkins has taken her time over her third album and it shows.

Digital Spy was just as generous and awarded the album five stars.

It seems obvious to give such a highly anticipated record – and one that has basically already gone to number one all over the world – a five star review. But for its simplicity, sincerity and striking soulfulness, it truly does deserve it.

And they predict that When We Were Young will be the soundtrack to many a “minor midlife crisis”. (Will toddlers be singing this one as much as they sang Someone Like You? Only time will tell.)

The Sun described it as “a collection of beautiful tracks” but also slated two of the songs.

Dan Wootton described the song Send My Love (To Your New Lover) as “a complete turkey”.

You can’t please everyone.

BBC called it a “worthy successor to 21″ and warned that there would be tears

The Independent, meanwhile, was a little more reserved in its praise and gave the album three stars

The newspaper writes that 25 is “swamped by the kind of dreary piano ballads that are Adele’s fall-back position”.

Now we’re more intrigued than  EVER.
