ARTHUR’S OFF LICENCE is a popular off licence in Santa Ponsa known for selling very reasonably priced alcohol.
The off licence has developed somewhat of a cult following on Facebook of late after it started sharing photos of some of their customers’ gigantic hauls.
Like so.
With thousands of Irish people descending on the town for the summer, the off-licence is currently running an unofficial competition of sorts to see which group of lads can drop the most cash in the off-licence.
It started back in June when a group of lads from Kilkenny spent over €500 on cans.
…today they arrived and kept their promise to break our record spend in the shop. Not only did they break it by spending € 501.16 , the quantity they bought was so much that Alex is having to deliver it to their hotel by van later.
Just a week later, a group of hardy men from Athlone surpassed their spend and dropped €557.40 on drink, noodles and jellies.
Well that didn’t take long – just arrived this group from Athlone and with a good mix of Spirits, Beers, Ciders, Mixers, Pot Noodles, Haribo and a Jager deal have smashed past the previous record of a few days ago spending a grand total of €557.40 – already on the way to them by van.
A heroic amount of cans, we’re sure you’ll agree.
However, their record only stood for a few days before a rival group from Athlone went in and spent a whopping €637.70.
That works out at roughly €57.97 for every lad photographed in the picture.
What is it with the people from Athlone. These lads from there, staying in a villa near the small beach just broke the record spend held by a group of lads from ….. yes, Athlone, spending €637.70.

Record-breaking hauls aside, the entire Facebook page is essentially devoted to documenting all the Irish customers that pass through.
