Bono was included on Glamour's 'Women of the Year' list and everyone's taking the piss

It’s a, eh, beautiful day.

THIS EVENING, GLAMOUR Magazine announced its annual ‘Women of the Year’ list, to celebrate the achievements of women from around the globe in 2016.

But for the first time ever the list included a man – Bono. And the accompanying photo collage looked a little off:

The list included Gwen Stefani, Simone Biles, the three women who founded the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and Christine Lagarde, to name a few. But there’s only one person that people have been talking about today – and that’s the U2 frontman.

Glamour were keen to outline why they chose him, for his work with the ONE Campaign:

Plus, for the first time, the awards also honor a man. For years our Women of the Year Advisory Board—made up of past winners, plus our editors—has put the kibosh on naming a Man of the Year on the grounds that men aren’t exactly hurting for awards in this world, and that here at Glamour, the tribe we’re into celebrating is female. But these days most women want men—no, need men—in our tribe.

The first impressions focused mostly on the sheer ridiculousness of the headline

And people still can’t get their heads around it at all

Naturally, people are taking the piss

There’s an actual awards show on November 14th, but you’d have to imagine that this year’s ceremony is going to be overshadowed by one man.

2016, you’ve done it again

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
