What's in my makeup bag? Charlene Flanagan

Having a rummage through our favourite faces’ wares.

EACH WEEK, WE’LL be taking a peek into some of our faves’ makeup bags to see their must-have products, because we’re nosey. This week, it’s the turn of makeup artist and co-creator of Irish beauty brand Ella & Jo, Charlene Flanagan. You can follow her on Instagram here.

Her earliest makeup memories

“My mum is a trained beauty therapist so skin was always a huge focus when she would have been teaching me about makeup.

I absolutely loved mascara and eyeliner (probably a bit too much) and I must have owned every lipgloss going – anything that sparkled.

“My style of makeup did change over the years from very minimal makeup in my teens to super smokey eyes throughout my 20s, now my signature look is definitely less is more. Super flawless skin & definition is key for me.”

Her makeup bag and what’s inside

“Ella & Jo 3 in 1 Hyaluronic Skin Mist for before and after makeup – I use this to prep my skin and to set makeup. Hydration is key to brighter, smooth and flawless skin. It will help makeup to last longer. You also spray this on throughout the day to reset makeup and add further hydration to the skin.

“I use the NARS Radiant Concealer for disguising dark circles and brightening the under eye area. Its so important to only apply products under the eye that are specifically for the eye area, otherwise you can dehydrate & age the skin quicker. It’s very moisturising and doesn’t crease or make lines look more prominent.

Ardell Demi Wispies false lashes are my must-have eyelashes, they are very natural but open the eyes making them appear bigger, more awake and add the right amount of definition. I am definitely a lashes and lips kinda gal.

Rimmel Kate Moss 03 lipstick was my wedding day lipstick and it’s a shade I can wear all day every day, it suits my skin tone and eye colour and I can wear it with the most natural or most smokey makeup looks.”
