And while we’d all love to have your homes stinking of Jo Malone, we aren’t all made of money.

As we’ve written before, Penneys candles are impossible to resist. They’re cheap, they’re smelly and they’re an instant mood lifter.

2. These Jo Malone dupes from Aldi, €3.99

These candles have caused a stir ever since they were released last Christmas. They’re said to smell exactly like Jo Malone candles and have become so coveted that they go for many multiples of the original price on eBay.

Aldi has assured that they’re back in stores now. Run, don’t walk!

3. Max Benjamin, €21.95

The go-to fancy candle brand in Ireland. Will make you feel like you’re living in Avoca.

4. Bog Standard, €13.56

This Northern Ireland-based company makes candles that are to die for in no-nonsense scents like Field, Hedgerow, Sea and Winter. You don’t get more Irish than that.

5. Handmade Soap Co. Candles, €15.95

Handmade Soap Co. have candles and diffusers in abundance in gorgeous scents like Lemongrass and Cedarwood, and Grapefruit and May Chang. Sounds like they’d go perfect with a bath, if you ask us…

This Cork-based perfumery makes candles in scents like Dark Rose & Myrtle, Sage & Winter Orange, and Mission Fig. Eat your heart out, Jo Malone.

8. Brooke and Shoals, €22

Stocked in over 200 shops around Ireland, Brooke and Shoals candles are positively delectable and won’t burn a hole in your wallet.

9. & Other Stories, €19

Not only do & Other Stories sell and make stunning clothes, but they’re killing it in the homeware/beauty department as well. Case in point? These scrumptious candles with fancy Scandinavian names.

10. Diptyque, €25

Diptyque are a little pricey, but you can mini versions of their candles for €25. Because who doesn’t want a little mimosa candle in their house?
